MOLLIE CRAVEN-HALLE

WHICH SCHOOL YEARS WERE THE WORST FOR YOU? ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL? WHY?

Indisputably, middle school was my "awkward phase." I mean, I feel like I'm still in my awkward phase, but now I know not to shave the space in between my eyebrows with a literal leg razor (oops). The transition into 6th grade was terrible because of my 3 best friends from elementary school, one went to private school, one moved away, and the other decided I "wasn't cool" anymore. So me and my back brace (yeah, did I mention that?) pretty much had to start from scratch with friends.

DID YOU HAVE A BULLY GROWING UP? IF SO HOW DID YOU HANDLE THEM?

I think the closest thing to a bully I had was the aforementioned "best friend" deciding I wasn't cool. I remember her ignoring me the first day of 6th grade, so I called her that night and she was totally friendly and told me to meet her before school the next day. She never came. After many embarrassed tears on my part, and the silent treatment from her literally through the end of high school, that was my bullying experience. Times is hard, bro.

DID YOU EVER TRY RESOLVING YOUR ISSUES WITH BULLYING THROUGH THE POWER OF SONG? THAT SEEMS TO WORK IN MOST MUSICALS.

My "bully" and I actually were in choir together in sixth grade, and I won "Best 6th Grade Girl Choir Member." So, in a way, I guess I did use the power of song to win. BOOM.

WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL YOU HAD GROWING UP?

This sounds boring, but academics were always super important to me. I think I got 2 B's my entire K-12 career and nearly died from them. My goal was to be in the top 10% of my really competitive high school graduating class, because that meant automatic admission to any public college in Texas. And then I was in the top 10%, and went to school in Oklahoma. So. I've learned that my goals mean nothing and I should reach for the tv remote instead of reaching for the stars. :)

WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE WORKING ON "FATTY FATTY NO FRIENDS?"

It's been a WHIRLWIND. I am one of only two of us in the cast that didn't work on the original production, so learning the enormous score and throwing the movement on top of it was absolutely crazy. But I LOVE doing this show. I was never the cool or popular girl, so getting to be this creepy, schizoid bully is actually a blast. The cast and creative team all worked tirelessly to make this show happen, and it's really inspiring to work with these awesome artists.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO ADD?

Come see the show! And if you like it, come see it again with 26 friends! I'll be extra mean for you!
