WHY DANCE?
Dancing is living. When I'm dancing I am my truest self. I'm at my most confident and most vulnerable. Every time I learn something new in life, it's reflected in my dancing, and every time I learn something new in my dancing, it's reflected in the rest of my life. Dancing can be scary and uncomfortable, but the risks are always worth taking. There are also dances I can always return to- that make me feel safe and movements that feel like home.
HOW WOULD YOUR DESCRIBE THE HOME YOU GREW UP IN?
I grew up around the woods, and my brothers and I were constantly in and out of the house. Climbing trees, floating boats in a stream, running around in the grass, I went to sleep to the sounds of crickets and woke up to the birds. The house was a mess, strewn with half-finished creative projects of all sorts, but it was full of love. I'm always trying to find ways to bring some of that essence with me to the city.
