Bethany Geraghty- Sybil

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST / WORST TIME WITH WHISKEY?

Did you know I'm actually a certified Whiskey taster?  It's true.  When I was living in Ireland, one of my younger brothers came to visit for his Spring Break.  And he wanted to tour the Jameson Distillery in Dublin.  At the start of the tour, they asked for 4 volunteers, two men and two women.  Naturally, my brother and I volunteered.  Then, at the end of the tour, while everyone else was enjoying their shot of Jameson, the four of us got to sample four different Irish Whiskeys, a Scotch and a Bourbon, while listening to the explanations of each.  At the end, we each picked our favorite, then given a very generous pour of that one.  (Did I mention this was all before noon?)  While we were finishing our glasses of whiskey (Bushmills is my favorite, still is, in case you were wondering), they printed out official certificates, proclaiming our expertise in the tasting of whiskey.  For years, my brother displayed that certificate in a frame, the way one would display an Ivy League diploma.

WHAT WAS THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS DREAM YOU HAD FOR YOUR LIFE?

When I was younger, I considered running my own country.  It was during my brief stint with politics, having recently been elected 4th grade class president in a landslide.  But then, I started worrying about border issues.  If I had my own country, how could I know exactly where it started?  I'd been across state borders, and there was no visible line, like in maps, so how did you know where the line was?  I then decided it would be best if my country was an island.  That way, I would know the exact borders.  I was nothing if not completely logical about this absurd dream.

WHEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO LIVE AFTER THE APOCALYPSE, WHAT MAKES WILLIAMSBURG SO APPEALING?

I think Williamsburg would be ideal for a few reasons. First off, no one would think to look there. Absolutely no one. So it would be a safe haven. Also, in a world so technologically plugged in, you know it's full of antiquated equipment being used/displayed ironically that can be used. But most of all, there are a lot of bars there. Come the apocalypse, if you don't have a good stock pile yourself, you should get to where there are plenty of supplies. Just look at Shawn of the Dead.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN:
A LAND WHERE THE WHISKEY IS ALWAYS FLOWING.
HERE PEOPLE LIVE IN BLISSFUL PEACE UNDER THE TENURE OF WHISKEY PANTS,
THEIR BELOVED MAYOR.

SINCE "THE EVENT",
THEY'VE FOUND IT'S DANGEROUS TO DREAM,
LEAVING MOST TO PREFER TO LIVE THEIR DAYS IN A DRUNKEN STUPOR.

BUT NOW,
THEIR WAY OF LIFE IS THREATENED BY AN AMBITIOUS NEWCOMER
FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD
WHO SEEKS
TO SOBER
THEIR PERPETUAL HANGOVER.

WILL HE RUIN EVERYTHING?
OR WILL HE DISCOVER THAT
IN WILLIAMSBURG,
IT'S EASIER TO DRINK?
